by June A. Free This journal was written daily while my husband and I were on a beautiful new ship called The Royal Viking Sun in the year 1989, leaving from the Port of San Francisco. The cruise was called One Hundred Days Around the World, terminating in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. We wanted to come back to San Francisco by ship, however, so our travel agent was able to work out our itinerary so we could pick up a ship in Tampa, Florida. We rented a car and drove to Tampa. We stayed at a hotel there until we could pick up the ship, with time being everything. The ship was called The Nieuw Amsterdam. We were on this ship for twenty-one days, as it was arranged for one seven-day trip and then returned to Tampa for another two-week cruise. We finally sailed into San Francisco Bay once again. This journal tells of all of the voyages. ABOUT THE AUTHOR I was born in St. Louis, Missouri. Our family of four moved to Pasadena, California, when my sister and I were children. I went to schools in Pasadena and Los Angeles. I was married and lived in Pasadena for many years. My parents lived there, too, until their deaths. My husband and I bought an older house in a lovely neighborhood and fixed it up, selling it after many years for a fine profit. We moved to Sonoma, California, when my husband retired, as my sister and her family lived in northern California. We bought a lovely house in the hills of Sonoma, and lived there for ten years. When my husband died, I lived there for three more years, finally deciding to move to Palm Desert, California, with my two dachshunds. This is where I put together Junes Journal, when I happened to reread the red leather diary my sister had given to me as a gift when we took our original voyage.
