The Boys from Savanna
By: Robert Steven Drake
About the Book
An exciting tale filled with adventure, The Boys from Savanna is a delightful children’s novel that takes young readers on a trip through the sometimes harrowing events of growing up. Riley and company’s adventures through childhood make for an entertaining look at the innocent mischievousness of youth and a peak into the over-embellished drama that children concoct in their vastly imaginative ways. With humor, excitement, and thrilling adventure author Robert Steven Drake creates a fantastic children’s novel perfect for capturing the hearts and minds of young readers everywhere.
A series of adventures that could come straight out of a modern Huckleberry Finn tale, the events in The Boys from Savanna have the innocent sense of danger and adventure of children who love to inadvertently get into escapades by being themselves. Its colorful story, endearing characters, and humorous approach to adolescent adventures make this a heartwarming and thrilling novel that teaches all children they can always invent their own adventures.
About the Author
Robert Steven Drake was born in Savanna, Illinois, in May of 1951. Having grown up on the Upper Mississippi River with four brothers, four sisters, and very close cousins, Drake spent every summer exploring every inch of Savanna and the Palisades State park. The hard northern Illinois winters made for lots of fun, and sometimes dangerous, sledding, but Drake and his close-knit family members managed to survive all of the many close calls they encountered. Drake is also working on a book about his experiences during the Vietnam War entitles Combat Cook.
