Better English

Better English is intended for adult learners of English as a second language (ESL). It is phonetics-based method using only twenty-five letters of the English alphabet (Q is not used). This book uses no special signs, symbols, or diacritics, and as such it is computer and internet ready. BE will help its users to clarify their English pronunciation, improve their writing and spelling, and enhance their memory and concentration.

BE uses its authors English version of the ancient Chinese philosopher Lao-Tzus book, Tao Te Ching, as illustrative material because no other thinker comes close to Lao-Tzo in emphasizing the importance of minimizing control and maximizing support in human relationships.

The author, Slavomir Gregovich, invested more than thirty years of intense work toward mastering English as a second language (ESL). He tutored ESL in the U.S.A. at a junior college level for eight years. Being born, raised, and university educated in the multilingual Yugoslavia, he also has a strong background in French, Italian, Latin, Russian, German, and Spanish.

From all his experiences as a learner and teacher of languages, he reached two fundamental conclusions: Every spoken language is phonetic (made of a limited number of distinct sounds; and every language is based on the common semantic logic. Better English is the outcome of that realization.
