My Cat is NOT a Cat is a funny book told through both the writing and the illustrations about a little black cat and all the silly things he does that are not typical of a cat. The inspiration for this book came one day when the author, Shauni Derington, was eating lunch with her friends at work. While telling a funny story about something her cats did, one of her co-workers stated “that would make a really good book.” A seed was planted and after some thought and a little bit of elbow grease, we have a book. My Cat is NOT a Cat is about the author’s cats, Sky and Boo.
About the Author
Shauni Derington is a graduate from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. Growing up she was always surrounded by animals and became a huge animal lover at a very young age, especially towards cats. Today, Shauni Derington is an elementary school music teacher. She enjoys creating lessons for her students that combine all of her passions: music, reading, and of course animals. Shauni Derington lives in Georgia with her two fur babies Sky and Boo.
